Tips on how to ship a snowboard

There are two ways to decide to ship your snowboard depending on your budget.

1.    Standard shipping service

This is the most common method that most sellers and individuals use. Shipping companies like FedEx, UPS, and USPS offer quality services. FedEx can be a reliable option if you need to sheep your snowboard internationally.

Why select standard shipping services?

Standard shipping companies are known to have the best network infrastructure to deliver anything globally.

Benefits of using a standard shipping service

·         Plenty of alternatives on how fast you want your snowboard delivered.

·         Faster shipping if your budget meets the shipping service rate and you need the package delivered quickly

·         It’s the best way to save some money if you’re in no rush for quick delivery.

·         Shipping companies provide insurance on your product which is essential to ensure you get compensated if your package gets damaged or lost. You will get charged extra for the insurance if you are concerned about your shipment.

So, if you want to save money, yes, you can travel by airplane but ship your snowboard by these companies. These companies have online systems to print your label and attach it to the snowboard box or bag, and they will handle the rest.

How much does shipping a snowboard cost?

Averagely, you’ll have to pay between $30 to over $100 to ship a snowboard. This entirely depends on the shipping service you select and the distance to be covered. In most cases, UPS and USPS have the cheapest snowboard shipping cost.

If you are shipping your snowboard in the same locality/state, you will pay $30 or less. However, shipping outside the country will cost you around $50, while shipping internationally may cost over $100.

6 Easy Steps for Packing Your Snowboard

shipping a snowboard

Before you think of how to ship a snowboard, you have to learn how to pack your snowboard. It is vital, especially if you’ll be using specialty shipping services.

Since freight charges are calculated based on the dimension and weight of the package, your focus should be to keep the package dimensional to its minimum, especially if you want to cut on cost. Keep the package dimension under 108 inches.

What you need;

·         A medium-sized moving box

·         Packing tape

·         Bubble wrap /other padding material

·         Knife or scissors

1.       Find a medium-sized box (medium-duty) from your local home and appliance shop. Then use a knife to cut one corner of your box from top to bottom.

2.       After cutting, the box should be easy to unfold. Take a bubble wrap and wrap it tightly in the cardboard. You can add another cardboard layer to offer more protection on the top and bottom. If it’s a longer box, use additional box materials.

3.       It’s not compulsory to wrap it with bubble wrap. You can use another padding material or wrap it tightly in the cardboard. If it’s a single shipment, combine the multiple boards but separate them from each other using a padding material.

4.       Fold the box over on one end. It may need extra trimming or cutting, especially if it’s a heavy-duty box. Once you have secured all the ends by doubling the thickness on the ends, tape it up. Then, you can fold the rest of the board lengthwise. Repeat the same process for all sides

5.       The idea is to ensure you’re shipping a small package as much as possible to avoid additional oversize charges. Now transport it to your shipping service provider.

6.       If you have the time, you can use the same process for packing several shipping boards. But, you can also look for experts to help with your packaging by charging a small fee.

Bottom line

From the tips above, how to ship a snowboard is pretty simple and can be applied to how to ship even a bike or other large-in-size products. Any of the above shipping companies or your trusted specialty shipping service will help deliver your board in good condition without any damage. Pack your scoreboard carefully to avoid breakage or damage while in transit. Also, it’s best to get insurance for your package.
